About Henry Wagons
A modern-day classic and a throwback to karmic country’s golden era, Henry Wagons dares to incorporate influences as grand and wildly diverse as Johnny Cash, Adam Green, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Scott Walker, Cormac McCarthy, Haruki Marukami and Rod Stewart.
Inspired by the most twisted aspects of traditional country music and flea-bitten western nostalgia, Henry serenades listeners with his insightful songwriting and deep, sonorous baritone. His songs are punctuated by his unique style of commentary, which regularly delights his audiences. Capable of switching between heartfelt romantic sentiment to the depths of grief, in the course of a song or two, Henry’s live performance is one of the most entertaining solo shows involving one man and an acoustic guitar.
Henry is also the front man of the band Wagons who have garnered enormous critical acclaim in their homeland of Australia. Last year, they beat out their contemporaries by receiving Best Album (The Rise and Fall of Goodtown) and Best Live Act nods in the Aussie indie bible Mess and Noise Readers Poll. Rhythms magazine, the Australian Mojo, awarded them Best Album of the Year.
